Intricate design details bring this small garden courtyard to life. Garden designer Tom worked closely with the home owner to create an outdoor living space that brought a variety of diverse and innovative ideas into an overall design concept.
Paramount to the project was keeping the design details subtle and gently adding layers of depth to the garden. By working with a simple palette of ironbark timber and Antico Luce stone, the detailed craftsmanship becomes a feature in its own right. The herringbone lay of the terracotta tiles and the inlaid timber border detail are quality examples of this notion in action.
Mass planting in the garden crafts a sense of softness as well as a feeling of lush wealth, while the hidden water feature enhances tranquillity, without interruption.
This is a garden space brimming of vignettes, that invites exploration, allowing each layer to be uncovered over a course of time. A garden that echoes the unhurried nature of artisan crafts and celebrates the quiet contemplation of hidden beauty.
